Providing a premixed matrix of ingredients would certainly cut down (Pun intended) the many variables of preparing a suitable mix and make Method Shaving much easier and perhaps more popular too!

I'm not a chemist but I do believe this should be for this reason - building the mix on my face doesn't burn the skin - which indicates that each component of the mixture is benign or non-reactive with each other and chemically stable within the same ph range.

I for one would find a 'Hydrolast Method Shaving Stick' an immeasurable benefit. It's been very difficult for me to reproduce a good mix in the near three years I've been DE shaving. A Hydrolast Stick would remove the challenge of building the basic mixture of slag, cutting balm and paste. It would also allow for customizing, adding a velocity buffer or paste to the base mixture. This would also prove to make an enjoyable shave far more accessible to the first time DE shaver. From there the market will take care of itself.

Have you talked it over with Charles? I suspect that the reason for separate products stems from an inability to combine them. Another factor is probably that a combo would reduce the dynamic nature of the system. A "one size fits all" approach seems to go against the whole purpose of RMWS.

You mentioned troubles with creating a stable mix. Have you read Mike's new articles about water quality?

- Yes I've read them. Water in central California is hard as nails. I'll need to experiment a bit to rule out hard water harassment. LOL

BTW: Shaving sticks would require a rather sophisticated method of production, I imagine Charles has many things to consider.

If he did make them, it would seem they would be a side-item, solely for convenience. The products you suggested be combined, are all things that can be varied to a specific shaver's needs. Combinning them would seem to work against the dynamic nature of RMWS.

I maintain that Hydrolast mix should be much like mixing biscuit dough. Some of this. A little of that and just a touch of that too . . . . !  Voila, another way to the perfect shaving experience!
